Epsom MP Introduces New Enterprise Scheme
Epsom and Ewell MP and Employment Minister Chris Grayling has set out plans for a new national scheme to help unemployed people set up their own businesses. Under the proposal, entitled the New Enterprise Allowance, would-be business people will receive some of their benefit money for a six month period, as well as a start-up loan and experienced mentoring support.
The scheme will be launched later this month in Merseyside, and will become available nationwide during the course of the year, with potential entrepreneurs in Surrey able to access it by the autumn.
"It's really important that we create the right opportunities for people who are unemployed not just to get a job," says Mr Grayling, "but also where they have the potential to do so, to enable them to start building a business of their own. I hope this scheme will see the creation of some 40,000 businesses across the next two years."
