Fears grow of more Post Office closures

As many as half a dozen local post offices could close in the next year as a result of nationwide plans to close up to 3,000 sub-post offices. Already one local office, on the Preston Hawe estate, has been closed, and the Post Office in the Spar store in Manor Green Road in Epsom may also close. There have also been rumours that other local post offices are under consideration for closure.

Chris has already met the Post Office manager responsible for the closure programme to express his strong concerns about the plans. "Our small Post Offices are a crucial part of our local shopping centres, and many people locally depend on them. I will do everything that I can to resist the closure of important local offices."

The Post Office expects to announce the next phase of its closure programme during the Summer.
