Push for lower fares

Chris has met Southern, the rail company which operates from the Epsom area into Victoria, to try to get Ewell East and Epsom moved into Zone 6, which will reduce fares for local people. He is confident that there will be a change at Ewell East, but it will require the agreement of South West Trains if Epsom is to be included as well. However if Epsom is moved into Zone 6, then it will mean that both Stoneleigh and Ewell West are also likely to be included.

"I know how strongly many local commuters feel about the way the current zone boundaries are drawn up. Now that both Tattenham Corner and Epsom Downs are in Zone 6, there is no reason for stations north of Epsom, which are much closer to London, to be left outside the zone. I will continue to do what I can to make sure this change happens, and that fares locally come down," says Chris.
