Dear constituent

I am writing to you with an update about some local events and other matters.

Ewell Village Consultation

Firstly, some of you will be aware that there has been a long-running debate about how best to improve the centre of Ewell Village. After extensive discussions between local residents and businesses, councillors and the County Council, Surrey has launched a consultation to seek views about three different potential options for the village.

The proposals are pretty wide-ranging, and it is important that everyone in Ewell gets the chance to give their views about the options, and indeed can suggest things that might be done as well or instead. You can find details of the consultation by following this link.

I am afraid that I am a little late to alert you about the drop in events, but you have the whole of June to make your views known.

Charities Fair – Friday 23rd June

For those of you who are looking for an opportunity to volunteer for a local charity, a reminder that my latest Charity Volunteers Fair is being held at St Paul’s Church, Howell Hill, between 4pm and 6pm on Friday June 23rd. For those of you who do not know the church, it is beyond Ewell East station on the road to Cheam.

Please do come along. There will be a wide range of local charities presenting what they do and looking for help.

The Horton Arts Centre

The Horton Arts Centre – Epsom’s beautifully renovated former chapel – has asked me to tell you that it is celebrating being open for one year. The award-winning heritage venue is planning a wide range of performances, courses and events this summer and the café-bar is open all day Tuesday to Saturday plus every Friday night.

A free photography exhibition by Epsom Camera Club is now running until 17 June and highlights coming up include a series of authentic Spanish classical music and dance concerts, performed in the round, 18-19 July.

See their website for more details: thehortonepsom.org or call 01372 747662.

Ewell Village Day

And one more date for your diary. The organisers have asked me to let you know that Ewell Village Fair this year is on the 15th. It’s always a good day out. And many thanks and congratulations to everyone involved in Ashtead Rotary for organising another really good Ashtead Village Day on Saturday.

I hope you are well and have a good summer.

With best wishes

Chris
