A short service was led by mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Councillor Chris Frost and attended by representatives of military, political, religious and educational groups.

 

Members of the Royal British Legion, 135 Geographic Squadron Royal Engineers, Burma Star Association honoured the dead at the service.

 

Chris Grayling, borough councillors and children representing Glyn School, Rosebery School, Blenheim High School, Ewell High School and Epsom College also attended.

 

 

 

Reverend Dr Mark Wakelin of Epsom Methodist Church, Reverend Lynn Alsop of Christ Church, and Mr Mannan Abdul of Epsom and Ewell Islamic Society represented Epsom’s churches and religious societies.

 

At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month a two-minute silence was observed by a crowd of more than 100 residents who gathered for the service in Epsom market place.
