Chris was on hand with a spade to help commemorate Ashtead  Peace Memorial Hall’s 90th Anniversary and planted a tree to mark the occasion.

The hall was built in 1924 to commemorate the Peace following the First World War and has been managed by teams of trustees from the beginning.

Jane Hiley, chairman of the hall’s trustees, said: “Through the generosity of many volunteers over the years it has flourished and become a central place to meet in Ashtead.

“Many people took part in the various events and displays which have happened during this year culminating in a special tea for invited guests and the tree planting ceremony.”
