Representatives from the local business community gathered at Epsom College to meet Chris Grayling to discuss the opportunities and challenges for the area.
The Business Breakfast was hosted by Scott Wilkins, Barclays Area Business Manager with owners and managers of local businesses joining representatives from the Surrey Chamber of Commerce.
Chris talked about the current situation in and around Epsom and his optimism regarding the local area.
The views of the businesses represented were generally positive with the audience agreeing that Epsom was a good place to operate a business. The proposed Business Improvement District for Epsom was seen as a real opportunity.
The challenges raised by the guests included staff shortages, lack of office space, traffic delays and transport issues, business rates and the uncertainty around Brexit.
Chris said: “It was really valuable to listen to the issues facing local businesses”.
Scott Wilkins said: “This event was a great opportunity to bring together business managers from the area for a really positive and practical discussion. Our customers locally are doing well with a strong desire to expand and real increases in businesses revenue and there is a feeling of confidence in the area. I am really grateful to Chris Grayling MP for being so generous with his time and so open with his responses to the many questions raised by the delegates.”
