Chris started the festive season at a care home in the village by turning on the Christmas lights at the Red House in Ashtead.

Administrator Tricia Lloyd said: “We enjoyed a glass of mulled wine and some mince pies whilst Mr Grayling spoke with some of our lovely residents. He is always a welcomed guest here.

“Christmas time at The Red House is always busy and festive. We have Christmas card making, a Christmas party for residents and their family and friends, and the Carousel Theatre Company entertain us with their panto every year. “We also have a special Christmas Holy Communion and carol singers.”
