The Sunnybank Trust celebrates double whammy
Epsom’s leading learning disability charity The Sunnybank Trust has had two reasons to celebrate. It has been confirmed that Chris Grayling MP for Epsom and Ewell has named the charity as his local cause for 2013.
In addition, the charity has recently been awarded £5382 from the Big Lottery Awards for All as a start up for a new project known as FIND, which provides information, and guidance for families of students supported by Sunnybank based at Woodlands School.
The Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP for Epsom & Ewell said of the charity;
“This is a tremendous project to be launching at the beginning of 2013. Sunny Bank Trust does great work supporting so many men, women and young people I am delighted to be supporting them.”
Rachel Fryatt, Chief Executive of The Sunnybank Trust said:
“The support from Chris is tremendous news not only for us, but also for the learning disability community as a whole! This has been doubled by the new Awards for All support which enables us to help and support parents of young school leavers who face huge challenges and uncertainty at this crucial time of transition.”
Adrienne Knight, Head teacher, Woodlands School.
“Having an independent advocate from Sunnybank Trust is a tremendous support for our young people and their families as students prepare to leave us to embark upon their adult life. The advocate brings a wealth of knowledge and shares this with families. She helps to ensure that all options are considered and that the young person is at the centre of the decision making process. The advocate then supports them during the next two years to ensure that all is going well. Our thanks go to trustees of Sunnybank Trust for supporting us with this unique opportunity.”
